Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. When she was only five years old her family moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma decided that she wanted to become an actress and for many years she trained at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned dance and acting. At the age of 10, Emma had taken part in numerous Stagecoach productions, as well as school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone is the film from 2001 adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was announced in 1999. Casting agents stumbled upon Emma from her Oxford Theatre teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after 8 auditions. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's cinematic screen debut. It was also the biggest and most successful film in 2001. Opening weekday and weekend revenues were record-breaking. The film was praised by critics and its performances by the three acclaimed young actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performances "amazing". Emma's performance won her a nomination and was awarded five more times for the film.
